FAQ

How do I know when my child needs a Speech-Language evaluation?

We provide Free Consultations about speech therapy by phone! If you have concerns regarding your child’s speech and/or language development we recommend that you call us.  Early intervention is the key to success, it is never too early for specialized intervention!

You may have concerns regarding your child’s ability to be understood by peers and adults, talk like their peers, use speech sounds correctly, express themselves easily and clearly, understand directions and questions, engage with peers, develop pretend play skills, and be successful in the classroom.

What does a Speech-Language evaluation entail?

Once you have completed the registration steps, we will schedule a convenient time for your child’s evaluation at our clinic.  If your child needs therapy, we can schedule that in the clinic, home or school!

What does a Speech-Language screening entail?

Speech-Language Screenings take approximately 15-20 minutes to complete using a standardized screening protocol.  Screenings are designed to identify children who may be in need of further evaluation.  We typically provide screenings for schools only.  If you are interested in setting up a screening at your school, please contact us directly at 404-915-2736 or info@linguisticimpressions.org.

Common questions about Insurance for Speech Therapy

  • Do we need a referral from our physician to come to LITS Speech for services?

    • LITS does not require you to have a medical doctor’s referral for services.  If you would like services billed to an insurance company, it is necessary that you get one.  Most clients are able to obtain one within 24-48 hours from their doctor's office.

  • Insurance companies differ regarding the need to obtain preauthorization for services, the number of visits they will cover in a given time period, and whether they require periodic re-evaluations.

    • The client/parent is responsible for keeping track of these requirements.

  • When do I need to pay for my child’s services?

    • Clients are billed at the beginning of each month and have 2 weeks from the invoice date to pay for services.  We accept cash, credit cards, and checks.  Many clients elect to use their Health Savings Accounts for services.  This requires that you contact your HSA/FSA directly.  You are ultimately responsible for all account balances and fees for service.

  • Will you bill my insurance company automatically?

    • Once it is established that your insurance company will provide coverage for in-network services and procedures, we will bill your insurance company directly.  We will then invoice you for your portion of the payment.  If we are not in-network with your insurance company, we will provide you with a superbill upon request, which will help you to obtain coverage from your insurance company.
